Update for delegates
Following the earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28 March, we continue to monitor the situation closely. At this time, having received assurances from our local partners, we anticipate that the World Diabetes Congress will take place as planned. However, as this is an evolving situation, we will continue to monitor and keep participants informed of any change in our position. The safety of participants remains our primary concern.
After consultation with colleagues and the local authorities in Thailand, we can report the following:
- All major convention and exhibition centres in Bangkok (BITEC, IMPACT, QSNCC, Paragon Hall, True Icon Hall, Samyan Mitrtown Hall, Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Center) remain open for business. We have contacted our venue, BITEC, directly. They have completed an assessment of the structure and found no damage and anticipate no disruption (official statement 1 | official statement 2). All events scheduled at the venue are fully operational.
- Hotels in Bangkok are operating as usual. We have contacted all IDF 2025 official hotels to confirm they have carried out structural assessments. This is ongoing and no issues have been identified so far. We will publish the reports as we receive them.
